First Baptist Church Leadership

First Baptist Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Dr. Gene Meacham

Pastor


Gene Meacham began his ministry as pastor of First Baptist Church, Hart, Texas in August of 2016.  Prior to that he served for ten years as Director of Missions for the Caprock Plains Baptist Area.  Gene and his wife, Lavonne, have also served as Southern Baptist Missionaries in Africa for ten years and as pastor of several churches in West Texas.

 Gene graduated from Texas Tech College (now University) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics in 1965. He received the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Gene and  Lavonne have been blessed with three daughters, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Gayla Myrick

Administrative Assistant

Gayla is our extremely capable go-to person for everything church related.  She began serving as Administrative Assistant in 2017.  Gayla is the busy mother of two, grandmother of four and helper to all.  She grew up in Hart, was saved and baptized and married in this church, and here she raised her children. First Baptist Church of Hart holds a very special place in her heart.
