First Baptist Church is fully committed to seeing the Gospel spread throughout the world. We support the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for World Missions, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North America Missions and the Mary Hill Davis Offering for State Missions in Texas.

We also recommend these organizations that are actively sharing the gospel with all the world;

People living in isolation are cut off from the outside world, with little to no access to health care, education, supplies, and the hope of the gospel. Our airplanes are the only way many people living in remote jungles, deserts, and mountains have access to life-giving necessities and the love of Christ. You can help us—and the hundreds of churches, missionaries, and organizations we serve—bring help, hope, and healing to the ends of the earth.

JESUS FILM


The Jesus Film has now been translated into more than 2000 different languages and is being used worldwide to share the message of Jesus Christ.

Bible Translation  

Wycliffe Bible Translators are working to translate Scripture into the heart language of every people group on earth.  Everyone deserves to have the Scripture in their own language, but 128 million people still don't have any Scripture in their heart language, and more than 350 sign languages still are waiting for a video Bible translation.

International Mission Board  

The International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention supports 3650 missionaries who serve around the world. 

North American Mission Board  

The North American Mission Board supports missions and missionaries throughout the United States and Canada.

JOSHUA PROJECT

      The Joshua project is committed to completing the task of the Great Commission by identifying and highlighting the over 7,400 people groups of the world that have the least Christian presence in their midst.

24:14 MOVEMENT

The 24:14 Movement gets its name from Matthew 24:14, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached to the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."  The movement is a community of laborers supporting church planting movements in unreached people groups.


THE GREAT COMMISSION

Matthew 28:18-20

 

After His resurrection, Jesus had instructed His disciples to meet him on a mountain in Galilee and there He gave to them his final instructions.  By His authority they were to now go and make disciples of all nations.  This command has traditionally been called “The Great Commission,” and it has become the focus of mission minded churches through the ages.  

            “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go 

            and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father

            and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything 

            I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end

            of the Age.”

 

ALL AUTHORITY

         It is under Christ’s authority that His followers are to lead others to a saving knowledge of Jesus. To make disciples is to preach the good news about Jesus Christ and urge people to become His followers. This authority extends to baptizing those who have professed faith in Jesus Christ. 

 

ALL NATIONS

         The word “nations” is the word “ethnos.” It does not refer to geopolitical countries but to “people groups.” There are about 200 recognized countries in the world, but more than 12,000 people groups identified by common elements of language and culture. Jesus gave this instruction to His disciples in Acts 1:8 – “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” 

 

ALL THINGS

            Under His authority His disciples are to teach His followers “everything I have commanded you.” A disciple is a learner, one who grows in his faith and understanding and obedience to the things he has been taught. In the Sermon on the Mount and in many other places in the Scriptures Jesus taught us how to live according to the principles of righteousness that He established by His own conduct. 

 

ALL THE DAYS

         “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Literally, Jesus said, “I am with you all the days until the completion of the age.” All of our days will include joyful, peaceful days but also days when we must endure trials and difficulties. Jesus’ promise is that He will never leave us and that His grace will be sufficient for us.
